Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a natural system of health and healing. Ayurveda literally means “science of life”, it is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems. It originated over 5000 years ago and is even more relevant today than ever before.
Unlike Western medicine, Ayurveda is a holistic science and looks at wellness as a whole: perfect health is defined as a state of balance between mind, body, spirit, and social well-being. We are meant to feel well, from the inside out. Rather than treating only the symptoms, Ayurveda focuses on finding and treating the root cause of disease.
Any type of disease (whether that is physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual) is caused by an imbalance. Ayurveda looks at how we experience and digest life through each of our senses. We explore the Four Pillars of Health and how balance in these pillars will bring harmony to your body, mind, and spirit.
Four Pillars of Health & Immunity
These four pillars naturally strengthen and mature the more you commit to them. They significantly shape the connection with self, community, and spirit. By way of these pillars, immunity is nourished and the feeling of love, strength, and vitality blooms.
Ahar – the food you eat. Good health begins in the digestive system; if our digestive system is not functioning optimally, our body will display signs of disfunction. Often, we think of these signs as normal. They may be normal to you, but they are not natural.
Vihar – the lifestyle you live. Balance is reflected in how well we digest life through each of our senses. The body absorbs and processes all that we see, hear, smell, taste, and touch.
Nidra – the quality of sleep that you experience. Sleep is paramount to the body rejuvenating itself physically and the mind’s function. An individual’s ahar and vihar play a pivotal role in the quality of one’s sleep.
Brahmacharya – the conscious use of all your senses. When continuously pushed or stimulated, our thoughts form and frequencies speed up and become disrupted. Ultimately leading to feeling unwell. Remember, slowing down is okay, permission granted.
